Citrus Hill faced rival Rancho Verde for the fourth time in fifteen months Friday November 27.  The Hawks prevailed 28-21 three months earlier, but both teams had more to play for in the CIF semifinals.  Citrus Hill trailed 17-7 midway through the second quarter, before gaining momentum on a kickoff return by Tesi Mikaele.  Six plays later the Hawks trailed only 17-14 at Halftime.  A Manny Berz field goal tied the game at 31-31 late in the fourth quarter.  A quick score by the Mustangs on a 60 yard screen pass gave them a 7 point cushion with 55 seconds left.  Alas, that is a LOT of time for the Hawks this season, and returner Skyler Thomas ran the kickoff back to the Mustang 20 yard line.  Citrus Hill tied the game at 38-38 with 20 seconds remaining.  After trading touchdowns in the first overtime period, the Hawks took a lead by scoring first in the second session.  THEN a strip by man-man Lewis, and a fumble recovery by Kariem Madison, clinched the Hawks comeback victory, and punched our ticket to the CIF Inland Division Title game.  Make that three in a row over the Mustangs!!!
